signs of progress...
been reading my TLB stats - take a look at this...
PokerStars Tournament Leader Points for the period from 2005-01-01 to 2005-12-06 requested by whiskeytown on 2005-12-06: 01/17 107.82 01/17 65.27 02/27 75.60 04/05 61.18 04/30 65.23 05/16 68.20 05/17 83.98 05/17 69.05 05/21 51.02 05/31 62.54 08/01 71.34 08/02 84.04 08/09 132.77 08/14 44.05 09/24 81.23 11/13 104.11 11/14 53.03 11/14 63.02 11/15 69.38 11/15 28.75 11/26 46.88 11/27 31.22 11/27 49.67 11/28 145.55 12/05 185.92 12/05 70.99 12/06 37.74 12/06 50.42 You will note that ever since this post about 6 weeks ago I have been on a winning streak again. I'm not proud of all of those - two of the last 4 were bubbles, not cashes, (including one in a 180 player SNG where with 19 to go I committed with A5 UTG and 5 BB's left and ran into 10/10 but it's obvious all the good advice and work is starting to pay off slowly...I'm feeling confident in my game again and confident I can make further progress.... BTW, those 3 or 4 day gaps in Nov. - that's when I was at work - no playing those days - not a lot anyways... so yah, sometimes the stuff does work...my spreadsheet crashed and I haven't learned how to use Exit's yet, but I'm pretty sure my SNG stats are good now too - a few first places during this time frame. I think my biggest lesson so far has been that at the end of the day, the game is a lot of 50/50 draws or 60/40 draws, and that by being the first one to bet I can almost ALWAYS turn that into a 70/30 stat. or better. In fact, in most cases, I can't think of a single instance where betting would REDUCE my chances of winning the hand. I may lose more money when I lose, but I can feel now where making it a 75/25 draw is better (the change being when the person folds cause they missed or scared) - I'm finding I like small pots without showdowns better then monster pots where I'm a 60/40 fav. I'm playing my small pairs better and picking off overcards easily with all-in bets post flop - these guys will play AK all in preflop but post flop are a little less inclined to keep chasing if they missed Now my biggest issue is I seem to be overaggressive when flopping big hands - I still wanna bet so as to not seem out of place and to keep flush draws away, and I'm not getting a lot of postflop action - but that all the picking off the spare bets seems to give me enough chips to last till the big hands come in. still a ways to go, but nice to have some instant measurable gratification - that also applies to the BR which is 50% greater then when I started and only 100 FPP from getting another 20% tagged onto it - pax RB now if they'd just move the damn $1-5 tourneys back to 10 percent payouts....yeesh. |

Re: signs of progress...
great job bro. Its always good to see old hands turn their games around. All too often players run hot, cool off and disapear. Well deserved kudos.
