Default Short stack SB PF Q-some disagreement.

A friend is sitting w/ ~300 in SB, SH 6max 5/10 NL.

Folded to him, he makes it 30 w/ 7c8c.

I told him I didnt like it and that he should just complete....he said it was good.

Your thoughts and reasoning?

Ill post mine and his in a bit.

Hes trying to disguise his hand. Hope BB doesnt wake up becuase then he wont be deep enough to call against any real hand. Myabe if BB calles with something like 66 and flop comes 572 he can double up, but I like calling too.

Re-load to $1K. With that stack, I'd hope to complete and see a cheap flop. Since it is SH and blind vs blind, the BB will call with a wide range of hands, and this hand sucks to play in a raised pot OOP with a short stack.

prertty horrible, the price of him building big pot oop with drawing hand is too big to make the deceiption worthwhile with 30bb shorty stack.

Your friend is betting $25 to win $15, so if bb folds 2/3 of the time it's +EV. Will he? prolly not. But if he folds, say, half the time, then that + the EV of 87s and the initiative should be a solid value.

If he defends more than half the time, then it's probably not worth doing.

with a 1000 stack, not a bad play. With 300, you're better off raising K 10.

I hope you're not thinking about limping here, I think it's a fold unless BB is tight, then it's a raise.

Table image is also important here. Have you been stealing a lot? If the answer is yes, then just muck it and wait for position.

Whatever you do, don't limp and hand your opponent $5.

Edit: I also noticed the raise was to $30. Folded around to SB, you should make it 4-5x the BB to compensate for your positional disadvantage.
