Default to raise or not to raise

personaly i liek to re raise AK preflop. but i was wondering. what situations should AA KK QQ AK not be re raise with preflop. either to set a trap. or to avoid walking into one yourself. ie holding AA in MP and somone puts in an average raise from early position do u re raise that and shut everyone out possibly even the original raiser?. anyone with any tips on situations to do or not do this please respond. give an explanation to

what about if u raise from button with AA and somebody limp raises u. your in position a call is probably smartest. or if u raise and somone in the blinds re raises. is it smart to re raise AK from late when somone has made a raise from early?
