Took alot of beats today. I think it's turning me into a softy!

Villain was new to me.

yesish. bet the river. fold to a raise. betting the turn is maybe. THey will call with a weak ace a lot. when he doesn't bet the river, you can figure he doesn't have the ace

uhh, i am betting the turn AND river here as completely standard.

if he raises you then its time to rethink, but at no stage in the hand at all has villain given you any reason whatsoever to feel that you are behind.

hes called, and called again, because thats what random people do with 2 cards in thier hand at 1/2.

situations like this actually reduce poker to a very simple concept: are you ahead > 50% of the time, if yes - bet.

Yes, you are missing one bet on the turn and possibly even one on the river depending on your opponent (you gave us no read).

I'm fine with a turn check against an unknown. Against a lot of opponents at this level you probably need to bet it. I think you should bet the river though. I think its very unlikely he has an A. He thinks you don't have an A eitherc cause you checked the turn. Because of this he would have bet into you on the river if he had a K. So I think its unlikely that an A or K is one of his holdings. You should bet on the river.

i would agree that a turn check is *somewhat* more acceptable against an unknown at higher levels. but that is because an unknown at higher levels is more likely to be a decent player than one at the 1/2 level. this makes it a clear bet, bet for me.

[/ QUOTE ] Point taken. FWIW, i haven't played 1/2 in over a year and I have never played at 1/2 6max. I know very little about what a typical 1/2 6max player should be.
