I can 8+ table just fine with 1200x960 res on my desktop. Those that call it a necessity just aren't trying hard enough =P

If you ever tried 1600x1200 you would wonder how you got along without it. Sure, it's definitely possible, but 1600x1200 makes things sooo much easier.

i do fine with 1400x1050...

Worth it for the extra $240 for a 2001fp Vs a samsung 19" CRT with over 1600x1200 resolution? I'm either buying the 2001fp tonight or not getting it at all (I'll be unable to go on the internet for the rest of the coupon's duration). I'm regressing from a suite to corridor style dormitories this year since I transfered school, so space is somewhat of a concern I think.

I feel that I will be better able to monitor everyone elses play with a 1600x1200 resolution and the 2001 will be much easier on my eyes then a CRT (I think) since my crt now gives me headaches after more than 1 hour of play while the LCD at home doesn't after 3hrs.

What hurts your eyes is the slow refresh rate on a cheap CRT. Be aware that cheaper CRTs will claim good refresh rates, but in the small print it is at lower resolution. The good ones will have high refresh rates even at 1600x1200 and beyond. I have a 19" Samsung (sounds like the one you are talking about; $179 at Best Buy) and a Dell 21" Trinitron. I have never had any problems with either. If you have the desk space, the 21" Trinitron is hard to beat for cost/benefit. I got mine for under $300.

1600 x 1200 is a necessity.

A 2001fp is a luxury.

You can get a nice 19" or larger flatscreen CRT that will do the job just fine. The only problem is it takes up more space. But if space is not a problem just go with the CRT for now until you build a bigger bankroll. Under a $150 can get you a 19" cRT that will be just fine for poker. Look for sales at best buy or circuit city.

Agreed. Once you use 1600x1200, you won't want to use smaller monitors anymore. In addition to Best Buy and Circuit City, you could check out Overstock.com. They usually have good deals on refurbished monitors. And they frequently run $1 flat shipping rate specials. I got two refurbished 21" Dell flat screen CRTs for a total of $300 shipped.

Another "me too." I don't know how i lived without 1600x1200. Hell I can barely make it on my 1920x1200 laptop now, without the 2nd monitor.
I have a 1600x1200 for 4 tabling, then a 17" CRT (1280x1024) beside it for all the ancillary stuff and/or a 5th table. Sure, I survived before with just the CRT... but now I wonder how.

seems like now is the time to buy a 2001fp, but that would really be breaking the bank. Does everyone seem to think that they are a MUST or increase your hourly rate when 4 tabling since there is no overlap, or is it just nice to have?

[/ QUOTE ]

It's definitely NOT a necessity. I six table on my laptop (1400x1050) while watching TV all the time. There's a lot of overlap but you will be fine if you set up mouse over auto-raise.

The amount you will save in misclicks makes it worth it just by itself.

Maybe if you're some kind of retard, but if you are then you shouldn't be playing to begin with. No its not necessary and adds nothing to your win rate. But it is VERY VERY cool.

I have had just about every setup you can imagine. I started with a 21"CRT hooked to my laptop. Hurt my eyes. Had eye surgery and switched to 6 17" LCD's at 800x600 while my left eye healed. My eye healed and I ordered a 2001FP. I used it for two days and ebayed my 17's and ordered another right away.

A better question is how may 2001FP's are neccessary.
