At a live game, I have sat down. Posted my blind. Folded to a raise. Gotten a great hand. Gotten it all in pre-flop. Behind. Sucked out. Doubled up. Looked around and realized I am near the bottom of the barrel at the table. Left in less than an orbit.

That isn't what makes me an a-hole--my general attitude and demeanour make me an a-hole.

If you double up on me, you're an a-hole no matter how long you stay. Well, unless you stick around long enough to lose your entire stack back to me. Then you're a great guy and I'm inviting you to all my home games.

OK. You sit down at a table. You win your first hand and double up. How many more hands must you play before getting up to officially not be an a-hole? Please elaborate on any factors that influence this number.

It all depends on what your goals are.
If your goal is to make friends stick around until you are busted.
If your goal is to win money play until you don't think you have EV+.
If your goal is to have fun play until you aren't having more fun.

Caring about what other people think is weak tight.

El D, your post is missing some important information which we need before we can decide on the proper course of action.

What's your read on the cocktail waitress? Is she loose? It may be best to get position on her and use your massive stack to push her around.

How about the dealer? Now that you've doubled up on a hand he was in, is he going to be very aggressive, and believe that "you owe him now"? If so, you may have to pay him off too much (one dollar may not suffice) and so it may be best to leave before more cards are dealt.

call me weak-tight then

I try to be nice, just cause that's what I do

and also if you play with the same people frequently it can pay to not appear to be a nit
