Tuesday night football on ESPN2 they were talking about it. They said the vote was probably made on the phone and the voter said "iowa" and was misheard.

Maybe, but then wouldn't you hope the harris poll representative collecting the votes might have enough college football sense to question if he heard the pollster correctly? An 0-4 team 21st? Idaho is not a football power by any stretch, so its not like saying USC or Texas, the rankign of Idaho should instantly raise eye brows. If its really a miscommunication the error is perhaps more egregious.

[ QUOTE ]
Voters cast ballots by telephone, fax or online; the voter who voted for Idaho reportedly did so by telephone. Did the voter intend to rank Iowa (2-2) but it was misheard over the phone?

"There are many times when someone says 'Idaho' and people think 'Iowa,' " Stephenson said yesterday by phone. "I don't think it's very often that people say 'Iowa' and people confuse it with 'Idaho,' certainly not on the East Coast."

actually, its just an attempt to try to keep the bcs at the status quo after the AP pulled out, as the harris poll is now 1/3rd of the bcs rankings. but why would anybody not affiliated with the rich bcs bowls want to keep the bcs at a staus quo, it sucked?
