Default AKs semi-bluff...you like the line?

The villian is a very aggressive bluffing type player who is also a very loose preflop raiser:

VP$IP = 41.94 and PF raise% at 10.26 in 341 total hands.

I am a tight player and he should know that by now as we've played several hundred hands together.

Any thoughts on this line?

In 6 max I usually raise with it if I'm first to enter the pot. Sometimes from UTG though I'll limp, though off the top of my head I'm not entirely sure why. I'm sure I have a reason at the time...

In the 6 max 100 $ party game I raise AQ 100 % percent of the time in any position, I limp AJ UTG and dont raise it in the sb and bb. They call all the time with worst hand anyway.

No, no i dont. With stats like that, i dont imagine you having much fold equity, especially given the fact that he bet into the pf reraiser. He's got a good hand, and you're a dog vs a good hand.
I wouldnt always expect your opponents to realize your playing style, as many/most dont pay attention to it.
I know your raise really screams out AA, but again, he may not notice things like that.
If this board has two spades, raising is a lot better.

Default Results...

The combination of my read (he has a midish pair), the 4 gutshot outs, 6 overs, and backdoor nut flush draw along with fold equity made this a +EV in my mind. Who knows if I'm really right.

I still have about 40% equity in this hand with my outs if I'm called, and I'm correct about him having a medium pair.

It played like I had a big pair before the flop and I simply followed through with a no hesitation all-in on his flop bet. 18 times I'll have QQ, KK or AA while the other 16 times I'll actually have AK specifically.

My opponent thought about it for what seemed to be an eternity. I could almost feel him folding, but he decided to make the right call with TT. If he had 99 or less, I'm just about positive he folds his hand. I didn't improve, and he won. One for the bad guy...

Thanks for your comments.

you're a funny guy, willing to get apeshit on a non-scary board with a funky draw, but not willing to crack a fart on a scary board with a conventional draw...

I don't think i'd have played this one the same; honestly, i'd have called preflop and folded the flop, but your line is ok, i think, against a player you know will lay down everything but a set or QQ+. remember, us NL guys hate AK for a reason cos when the pot gets big...

fim

PS- this post sounds mean; the fact that you even came up with that move and almost pulled it off shows that you are a good, creative NL player.

I don't really like it. When I'm the aggressor preflop and someone bets out for a smallish amount, I will nearly always raise. However, when they bet the full pot, its almost always safe to believe they have something. People at this level probably aren't folding anything from 88 above.

Regarding soah's line - very bad! You and I both know what the minreraise at 6max tends to mean.

Tough one, but a creative/aggressive line.

You surely had outs and his call....well....

What would you have done if YOU were raised to $18 and raising UTG, then faced a $150 call with two overcards against someone that either had you beat or had plenty of outs?

Seriously. What would you do?

How about if you knew that the bettor had AKs?

Important to think about.
