AK vs. JJ

Give me JJ all day. Some of the biggest pots I've ever won playind NL were with a set of jacks or jacks full of aces. Ak is usually paying me off in that spot. Dont get me wrong, Slick is awesome, JJ is just a little bit better.

AK is a much better hand in my opinion especially when it is suited. The only way to improve your hand in the case of JJ is to get trips or 4 to a flush or if the flop is three of a kind or something that the odds are against you. The only time I would rather have JJ over AK is if its short handed or even heads up because its a slight favourite before the flop. AK will pair 2/3's of the time plus its more likely to improve once you get it. 2 pair, straights and flushes will come more likely.

You are a 50% winner either way....There are too many factors involved to say one hand or the other is better...Sure JJ is a good hand, but if another player has QQ you are screwed...With AK you have four outs compared to two....AK has a possible straight and flush draws....The jacks only have 2 outs period. You shouldn't play hands before they are dealt in my opinion.

I'd rather take JJ, everytime. Even if you flop some overcards, you may have a straight draw oryou will always have 2 outs to a set. Besides, JJ is AT WORST dead even with AK, but more often it's a slight favorite.

OK, but with AK you will always have 4 outs not to mention straight and flush draws (if they are suited). That is why AK is always ranked over JJ for a starting hand...To be honest this is pointless anyway....It isn't like you get to pick your starting hand. AK or JJ can be beat by 7 2os with the right flop. Like I said before...One should never play thier cards before they are dealt.

Mostly true, but when you raise of call a raise with AK, and you hit your hand, most people will be aware of the strng possibility that you hold TPTK. Same is even true when you make a broadway or a wheel. When you flop a set of jacks, It is almost always a suprise for your opponent at the showdown. AK easier to play, JJ more profitable in any cashgame.
