4 limpers. flop ($7 after rake): 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] EP bets 5$, call, villain makes it 20$. i know what to do here. this is a no brainer raise...but...is it?? effective stacks: me: ~$300 5$ bettor: ~80$ caller: ~$40 20$ raiser: ~$40 after the betting up to my turn to act on the flop gives: me: ~$300 5$ bettor: ~75$ caller: ~$35 20$ raiser: ~$20 NOW...do i raise making 80$ stack fold, or smooth call hoping 80$ stack will call, at which point i'm all in in the dark on the turn?? i smooth called hoping 80$ stack would call/raise. he ended up folding. i took both of the small stacks money (MHIG). Discuss. |

Re: 1/2 live
Agreed. I'm smoothcalling and trying to take everyone's money.
In fact, in a deepstacked game I would probably do the exact same thing and hope my straight flush falls so that I can maybe hopefully stack an ace flush. I'd probably only raise in a normal (100bb) stacked game. |

Re: 1/2 live
Yes, this is a smooth call. The nut flush has only 5-6 outs since we hold 2 card, 2 on the board, they would hold 2, and 1-2 would give us the straight flush (depending on what Axs they hold -- it could be one of the straight flush cards).
Of course, a raise here isn't bad as no one is getting away from a decent hand given the stack sizes. If the turn puts the 3 flush out there, action might slow. |
