Default bankroll management

i started playing 200NL cause i kept getting hassled by me friend and my ego couldnt take it. so i played and got lucky and pushed my bankroll to about 800. then i figured i should be safe and play 100Nl. I've been winning consistently and have regularly cashed out so that my br reads about 700 +-60. How much should i increase my br before i move to 200. What is a safe number, 5-10 buy-ins?

it depends on your comfort level really but ive always heard that u should have atleast 1200bbs at whatever level u play or more. im a little sissy and i like to have more than that but if u r comfortable with 600-800bbs then u should probably stick with that theme but beware even the best player have bad days and weeks, and one bad day could eliminate that br.

Bankroll should be at least 10x the maximum buy-in. ($2000)

the easy answer is 20 buy-ins to have a minimum risk of ruin.

the extended answer is that you can calculate your bankroll requirements based on your win rate, standard deviation, and a desired risk of ruin.

BR = -(SD^2 * Ln R)/(2 * WR)

BR - Bank Roll
SD - Standard Deviation
R - Your accepted Risk of Ruin
WR - Win Rate

eg. WR = 10 BB/hour, SD = 150 BB/hour R = 0.001 (0.1%)
BR = -(150^2 * Ln 0.001)/(10 * 10)
= 1554 BB
