Default Re: Face up muck?

[ QUOTE ]
Why is allowing this good for the game?

OR....

..... would a rule saying, "when facing a bet either turning your hand face up or pushing it torward the muck will (may?) result in a dead hand" be better?

It adds another demension of play, it is interesting and calls for a "rush" in emotions. All of which are good for the game.

Sure it can be used for angle shooting. Most of the dealers at the room I play the most at will ask the person opening their hand if they are folding or reach to muck the hand. It becomes very clear, very quickly if the intent is to open fold, or simply open the hand. It is rare that such a thing would happen without a big call needed and most people are going to protect their hand in a situation like this.

I personally would not be too happy if the rules changed making my opened hand dead/mucked. It is a tool. A tool that I do not used often, but when I have, I can honestly say it has made/saved me lots of money.
