If you don't have the confidence at 5/10 then go ahead and drop to 3/6.
Whatever it takes.

compared with the losses at 10/20 you certainly shouldn't have any issues with the swings at 3/6 obviously.

There's no need to stay even at 5/10 if you feel like you are getting clobbered still.

FWIW - I have bounced around from 10/20 to 5/10 to 3/6 over the past few weeks.

I've even occasionally just done some basic bonus-clearing at 1/2 over on crypto.
No biggie.

The fact that you admit that your judgement is all fouled up and you seem to have no idea which end is up anymore (don't know when to value-bet, etc) means you are NOT in the right frame of mind for the limits you are playing.

After my latest losing slide, I'm up about 100BB's at 5/10 in my last 1k hands.
This is also not going to last obviously.
But the 50BB up's and down's are all just a fairly regular part of this wacky game.
You just happen to have strung together 5 of the 50 BB down-swings in a row.

Victor's graph is pretty impressive.
400BB downswing over 30k hands is a real eye-opener.
Lots of 50 and 100BB downswings in there too of course.
And some REAL impressive upswings.

interesting thing is I see a 27k hand stretch at around 4.8 bb/100 and a 23k hand stretch around 4 bb/100

i too noticed that and Victor's graph truly captures the variance that we must go through. that 30k stretch where he dropped 400BB is something that I actually went through myself last month...except Victor showed more heart and perseverence.

hey vic, how many tables is this?

also, i was playing a super tag style at this point. i was 20/17 or so with a variance of less than 16. not sure how that fits in tho.

Kurosh,
You are just a kid so I am willing to give you the benefit of the doubt for past transgressions/idiocy/arrogance. We have all done/said stupid stuff when we were 18-20 years old. I sincerely hope that you pull out of this downswing and get your head screwed on straight again. I also hope that you become better for it, at both poker and in general. I am rooting for you.

I think it's almost a bad sign if you don't havew an ego when you actually start playing well.

The thing to do is definitly make sure you can say to yourself today, "I am going to play solid, winning poker." It doesn't have to be your absolute A game, but if you can't play close to it right now, don't play.

I think a lot of players will tell you that they bounced around a lot before moving up to a certain limit. I gave 30-60 a shot for a while back when the tables first open up and was no where near ready. I went back down to 5-10 to regain my confidence for a while. Then i worked my way back up the ladder to 10-20, and now 20-40.

Make sure you have a more cushioned bankroll when you are moving up, absolute minimum of 500BB. From some of the things i have read in the past, this may be difficult and it may not, but i am sure this will be immensley helpful.

Good luck!

Gabe
