Default Detroit Casinos?

I'll be in Detriot next week and will have Tuesday night free. I heard there are casinos in Detriot?

I'd be looking for play some low limit HE if possible.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

motor city or greektown. More tables at greektown, call ahead. Prepare for the worst casinos you have ever seen. Ever.

I was at Greektown a few weeks ago for the first and probably last time. They had a variety of games from 3/6 to 40/80, but the staff was horrendous.

When I got onto my first table, the WSOP or some other poker show was on the TV, so the dealer felt it necessary to pause the action to watch the results of hands and comment on them. This was soooo annoying.

A friend of mine (also a floor man) was dealt a card that went off the table which he picked up. The dealer asked him if he wanted to keep the card. We looked at each other like "WTF?" He asked if he had a choice and she said "Yeah." He then asked if he could look at it first before deciding and she said "Sure". Are you kidding me?

During the entire session we saw one decent dealer there who could actually pitch the cards, read the cards and get out a respectable number of hands.

Since these dealers pool tips, this a great example of why pooling is a bad idea.

I'm looking for people with personal recommendations from the present, not the past.

Why even spend even 2 seconds on a reply like this?

Wow. Second reply saying how bad it is. I guess it beats Spanktravision in the hotel room though ...

Is 3/6 the lowest limit they spread do you know?

Thanks ...

3/6 is the lowest at Greektown. I think someone said Motor City has 5/10 as its lowest. Not sure though.

If this is your first time, you shouldn't hate it too much. Yeah the dealers aren't great, but it's tolerable. I haven't seen any of them be outright rude to players, and to me that's more important than actual dealing competance. The floor can be rude sometimes when it's really busy, but I've also noticed that they're super nice when it's not. Granted they should be nice all the time, but they're only human I guess.

Also, after you play, go ask the floor for a comp. He or she will give you a $6 voucher good for the snack bar down the hall, or at the bar too. For some reason those sandwiches always taste so good after a bad session...

i personally have never been to any detroit casinos, only 20 yrs old. but i can relate to the frustrations of having incompetent dealers. i've played at windsor 5 times and each time i was disappointed for one reason or another. i'm tempted to forward the link to tips on being a professional dealer, or, running a cardroom, because the windsor staff was horrible when i was there.
examples, one dealer on first hand dealt three cards to two players before he realized his mistake. he explained that he thought he was dealing Omaha, which i don't even think they spread. another dealer exposed 3 cards in 15 hands. that's a lot in my opinion. i won a 15 dollar pot at the 3/6 and decided not to tip on that particular hand, partly because it was a pretty small pot and partly because i felt the dealer wasn't that good. what makes a dealer think they can question a player about his tipping patterns? after he complained about making only 6 dollars per hour, i stated that i didn't feel like tipping that hand, plus i'm already against the rake. he said, play somewhere else if you're going to complain about the rake. so i told him to look for a new job if he's going to complain about only making $6 per hour. after that i was mildly upset and tilting and proceeded to lose with top set against a runner runner straight flush. bad beats happen and it was time for me to go, but the dick head dealer said, "that's what you get for not tipping. you get bad cards. SEAT OPEN!" WTF?
other examples are floormen arguing with dealers and players over rules, which ultimately, the players won. the players know more than the staff? hand miscalls were plentiful too and players had to walk dealers through hands.
basically i had to get that off my chest, so thanks for putting up with the rant.
the one good thing about windsor is that it's non-smoking.
it might even be better than greektown based on the opinions of others. my advice though is to not expect much if you plan on crossing the border. but if you like the idea of low spreads, windsor offers 3-6 which is in canadian, so it's a bit cheaper.

Wow, that really pissed me off.

Greektown isn't quite THAT bad, at least in my experience. Like I said, courtesy is way more important to me than competence.
