It truly amazes me that some people here will go to great lengths trying to discredit and humiliate Chris Moneymaker. Are you people that consumed with envy?

I don't know, maybe CM deserves it. One thing I do know....I DON'T WANT TO DEBATE IT OR READ ANOTHER CM IS A DUMBASS LUCKY HILLBILLY THREAD!

By the way, right at the top of the web page it says "FIRST" time playing hold'em....seems like good advice.

none of that was said or implied.

as a matter of fact, i have heard that C Moneymaker is quite a nice guy and has great character. i also have never spoken ill of him.

the topic here is that: "the advice Chris gives on his web site is questionable".

yes, it's noted that the advice was geared toward first-timer hold'em players.

check the original thread if you'd like to hear what people said.

You know, his advice is great for starting out players. It simplifies the game to understandable and retainable information. I bet it is FAR better than anything Helmuth or Warren ever wrote and certainly much simpler and easier to grasp.

Imagine this scenario.

You've never played any poker before.

You have to get into a game in 10 minutes.

I have to tell you ... knowing nothing, reading the CM site info -- it's not as horrendous as some have said.

Sure, it's basic. Sure, it could be better. Sure, it leaves out some stuff.

But imagine knowing nothing and then reading that -- you probably could hang at any B&M $2/$4 game.

I think it's pretty cool when guys who obviously don't need to help anyone -- i.e. MILLIONAIRES -- take the time to do so to would-be future Poker Star winners.

Yeah, and so you're doing alright after 10 min at the table, and then you get T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].

Flop: 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

After reading his advice, I'm betting until I get called. (and maybe rightly so)

Turn: 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Again, betting (at his advice) as much as I can.

River: Eh, let's make it interesting. 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

Again, following the advice, I'm betting and betting and betting.

Or I have T2 from the blind and hit a TTA flop. I have trips, but I could very well be in for one heck of a ride.

After 13 minutes, New Player is down $40 ... not a nice way to start a first session ... thought not likely to be any different if you didn't read that info.

I haven't read Warren, but it's almost exactly the same strategy as what's in PPLTP.

Definitely more clearly written, though :P
