Default Freezing the opposition

Modnareno has been value betting all his 9s, and holding on to his rough 9s after the first draw. Do you like the play here, and if so, should this sort of thing be a more regular part of my td game?

drawingfour is at seat 0 with $436.
SEVY is at seat 2 with $292.
TripPoker is at seat 3 with $152.50.
nyu is at seat 4 with $333.
modnareno is at seat 5 with $271.
The button is at seat 4.

modnareno posts the small blind of $2.
drawingfour posts the big blind of $4.

drawingfour: 9h 8s 6d Ad 4s
SEVY: -- -- -- -- --
TripPoker: -- -- -- -- --
nyu: -- -- -- -- --
modnareno: -- -- -- -- --

First Round:

SEVY folds. TripPoker folds. nyu folds. modnareno
raises to $8. drawingfour calls.

modnareno takes 3 cards. drawingfour takes 2 cards.


drawingfour: 8s 6d 4s Jc 5s
modnareno: -- -- -- -- --

Second Round:

modnareno checks. drawingfour bets $4. modnareno
calls.

modnareno takes 2 cards. drawingfour takes 1 card.


drawingfour: 8s 6d 4s 5s 3s
modnareno: -- -- -- -- --

Third Round:

modnareno checks. drawingfour bets $8. modnareno
raises to $16. drawingfour calls.

modnareno stands pat. drawingfour stands pat.

Final Round:

modnareno bets $8. drawingfour raises to $16.

Ask yourself... why should I raise here, is it for value or to win the pot. If the only hand he will call is a hand that beats you, then it is not for value. If he will often call you with an inferior hand, then it is for value. He is NOT going to fold any 8, or any 7.

I should make it clear that given his past play, I felt 80% sure I was ahead when he raised me. I felt about as certain that he would call my raise on the end with any 9 or better and probably reraise any 86 (less sure of that).

seems okay then. but it has to be very read dependent. otherwise i'm just calling.
