hand 1:
i probably play it the same, tho trying for a turn overcall from BB to get more river bets might be fun. Hell, UTG might get frisky and raise the river, how fun would that be?

hand 2:
perfect

hand 3:
kinda read-dependent, but if BB is decent, i might slow down on the river. if not, i like it.

I think I like them all. You might have cut off the action in hand 3 to not show BB capping you. It makes me want to say slow down, fearing a wonkily played AA, but I could see AK playing like this as well.

Hand 1: A river checkraise might be hot. He doesn't have clubs so he won't raise your bet.

Hand 3: I would 3 bet the flop with the other dude still in the pot.

Nah. Hand 3 is good. With an overpair (but not aces) I would 3-bet the flop.

Hand 1: I have some thoughts about just smooth calling the turn -- the BB is very likely to overcall since he has already put some money into the pot this round, but calling two cold on the big streets is never fun. The real value on this play comes on the river, where hopefully you can bait UTG into keeping the heat on while you have quads, getting you extra money.

However, all this thinking is probably skewed by the results and is FPS to the max -- down on the felt I just jam this pot until villian cries uncle.

Hand 2: Standard, I guess. With two to a suit on the board I would be inclined to put the pedal to the medal right from the start, though.

Hand 3: I call that river raise. These last two cards are killer. The villan would have to be uber-LAG to be playing QQ or JJ like that on the last two streets. Which means you are up against AA or KK or AK, and I just pray he hit runner-runner two pair.

I agree with spider. And I'm also interested in the reason for the call. So I suppose I add nothing, really.

About hand 1, how about just call his raise on the flop? Wait to see if the turn card is dangerous since lots of cards could've had our set less valuable. I think this situation is similar to the two overpair play described in SSHE p189.

I guess not raising BB out on the flop actually paid off.

Sorry about being a wise ass, but I wanted to prove my point. Gonzo raising does not make maximum value.
