Default What happens when the poker craze ends?

This has been a question that has been on my mind forever it seems. I play a rather unusual game for cash, PLO8, but I play at very low stakes .50/1 and 1/2 Pot Limit, I have been wondering how long will the games be good? I mean its a weird game that doesnt even get spread in casinos, why would it be good for very long? The only positive is that I play really low stakes, and I could see someone messing around with 100 or 200 at my game for fun, but I cant imagine the higher tables are any good because they are probably full of rocks, but I dont know.

I wonder wtf am I doing playing this weird game? I should be learning holdem and PLO some games that actually have a future, but I really enjoy this game and I do ok in it, but I am almost certain the games are going to stink as soon as the poker bubble burst because its a rather unusual game, this had been on my mind, just cant seem to stop thinking about, I wonder do you guys ever think what will happen when the poker bubble bursts? I enjoy poker perhaps a little to much, while PLO8 is my number one game, I play a ton of PLO and Holdem sit and gos, I also enjoy stud and play it a few times a week on party, ill play anything on party, if they offer a game ive sat down at one point in it, probably .50/1, LOL. The problem is I play poker from the money I make from PLO8. Anyway you guys ever think about the what ifs? Like what will happen when poker aint in like it is now?

My father plays the 2/4 PLO8 on Paradise and he is always talking about how he can't believe how terrible the player's are there.

Bob Ciaffone once said he was in Tibet on a vacation and he discovered there was a weekly poker game at a certain house while staying in a small town. The game they were playing was PLO8. In Tibet! He couldn't believe it. This is pre-poker boom in the mid 90's. (Ciaffone wrote the only book there is on PLO8.)

Don't worry. There will alway's be a good PLO8 game somewhere.

That's right. It's all going to end. So, stay off the PLO8 tables. Especially the ones I'm going to be hitting, where people are fearless of being quartered.

The game is relatively obscure, so it would be very hard to have enough players in any one area to sustain a game.

The great thing about online is you put all the players in the world together and can spread games everyday.

This game will cease when crack-headed maggots like myself stop sliding over there thinking ''anything can happen''. I have finished many a tilt session on that game. I suppose for a player like yourself, spread out to the most marketed sites and keep book like your life depends on it. build your nestegg off me and my flock before we all slide into GA.

Omaha and it's various forms have been "the game of
the future" for at least twenty years now. Hmmmm.

It comes and goes, like backgammon and some other games.

Meantime, think of the casinos. What will happen to
them when the fad dies, and everyone realizes that
you can't beat the house edge at their games? Hmmm.

There will always be some donk out there that thinks they can win at roulette or craps.

In the early 70's, on my way to the airport after my umpteenth trip to Vegas, I was noticing a new casino being built. In my infinite wisdom, and displaying my all powerful ability to predict things to come, I said: "That place will be the last one. I mean, they're almost to the airport! Geeze, how many more casinos can this place support?"

P.T. Barnum was an absolute genius. I'm about as good at predicting as Carnac.
