Okay, i'm trying to learn everything about pot odds, expected values and formulas and so forth to get serious with poker. I see calculations in threads and wonder how you guys come up with these things. I'm a no limit holdem player, and how much does this involve in no limit?

I think the best thing to do would be to pick up one of the popular 2+2 poker books, like Theory of Poker by David Sklansky, or Small Stakes Hold'Em by Ed Miller. These will do a better job of explaining those concepts than most of the posters here could. Theory of Poker applies to all games, but Small Stakes is aimed more at limit. However, concepts like expected value and pot odds are relevant to every poker game, including no limit hold'em.
