Default 180man SNG Hand #1 - Really really weird AKs

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t50 (9 handed) pokerhand.org hand converter

UTG (t1490)
UTG+1 (t3253)
MP1 (t100)
Hero (t4241)
MP3 (t2810)
CO (t1850)
Button (t5825)
SB (t1436)
BB (t2510)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
UTG calls t50, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, MP1 calls t50, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to t250</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">CO raises to t1850</font>, Button calls t1850, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, UTG folds, MP1 calls t50 (All-In), Hero folds.

CO was the kind of player who always calls your bets in position and then decides to bet when you check. So this was a "stronger than average" move from this guy. Button had been quiet but won some big pots by pushing preflop with KK and getting called by 55.

At the time of this hand I was 15th or so out of 100.

I don't like the fold. You see him doing this with AA KK? I don't. I'd call, theres a lot of dead money, and it's definitely cEV+.

I see CO doing this with exactly AK and AA-QQ. 80% says its AK.

The Button overcall freaks me out, though. Especially when I think CO has AK as well.

Tough spot. I'm going to ignore the MP.

Will button check down if you call? If so, this spot is probably +EV as you're likely to be a coin flip against two hands. Come to think of it, button basically can't have AA or KK here, and you're getting better than 2:1 to see a flop with AKs, so I think this is a call.

If button's the check down type of guy, this is a call because you get to see all 5 cards here with a hand that's probably better than 33% to win.

If button's going to bet into you when you check, this is a call because you're very likely to be ahead of villain if an A or K falls.

So, I think this is a call and check any flop situation (maybe with the exception of monotone flops that pair you).

Ok, but what do you read the button cold-call as? Easy fold for me.

This is really really specific. Is this true?

I was about to type that this would make an easy fold before a screwed around with poker stove here. This is still a call or a push, and I still kinda like calling because of the covered pot.

This guy just straight can't play postflop. It screamed of AK. Maybe he has 88-JJ and freakishly rare if he has AA, KK, or QQ.

How am I supposed to interpret button's call though?

this is one of the times that i'd drop ak suited....

you're very healthy stack wise, and there should be easier spots down the road.

Button's range doesn't matter much provided it's not very heavy on AA, KK, AK. I think it's in fact very light on AA, KK.

Playing around with pokerstove makes this really clear.
