Watching sports like college football, and of course all the pro sports is a complete waste of time, unless you are somebody who likes to bet on them I guess. How a grown man can sit and watch a bunch of blingged out, arrogant, wanna be multi millionaire wanna be gangstas chase a ball around a field is beyond me....

no poker telecast, live or taped, could ever come close in entertainment value to a good football game.

Well, that might be true if you like football more than poker. Personally, I think football sucks. It sucks to play, it sucks to watch. Just because your personal tastes dictate one thing doesn't mean the rest of the world shares your taste.

Your post is kind of like saying Tiramisu will never succeed as a dessert. It's just a fad, and will die out soon. It just can't compare to a good slice of chocolate cake. I hate tiramisu, and I like chocolate cake. For me, this statement is true. However, there appears to be a lot of folks out there with different tastes than me, who like tiramisu.

I agree with your statement because poker is not a sport it is a game. There is no physical aspect to poker. Lets face it we have people of all ages playing poker fat, old, young, and fit. But, the popularity is increasing. I even found my mother watching the NBC Heads-Up tornament, and I can tell you she hates football. But, what I would like to see is these sponsors like ESPN start picking up the casino tab on theses add on fees and casino expenses. I'm sure they are making enough on the advertising to do so. I believe the players are getting ripped off with the increases in fees. I'd like to see theses $50 to $100 add on fees to the $1000 entries go away. We definately need the players on the tournament circuit to speak up to these media giants and turn them away unless they can put some dough.

Good Luck

Mark

-Oh, and for the record, if I see something that is televised heavily on Fox Sports and ESPN I am going to call it a sport.

sport Pronunciation (spôrt, sprt) n.
1.
a. Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively.
b. A particular form of this activity.

2. An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively.

3. An active pastime; recreation.

The closest thing to physical exertion I've ever seen at a poker table is Matusow running his mouth.

I agree with Greg. Although poker isn't a "sport", there is no reason is won't last on television. I don't like to watch football, but I love watching poker. I'd also venture to say that more people enjoy watching poker than do curling and/or darts (which I have seen on TV many times throughout my life).
