If I'm not capping the flop, it's probably to raise the turn since I'm in position. I do totally understand, though, the desire to only call after the interesting A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] comes, which is a card which both very possibly beats you but also gives you a bunch of outs to any hand you're behind.

I think the river may well have beat you. I personally don't like being in the position of having to call on this river. Having the initiative would be nice here, which is one (ex post facto) recommendation for playing the hand a little more aggressively earlier.

cap the flop. check behind the turn. call the river. sounds goot to me. i doubt we're goot on that river, but we may catch a straight draw bluff or a 9 or something.

I still haven't made up my mind about the river, but I'd say raise the turn (this A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] actually gives you more outs). If you get re-raised on the turn, then you can probably safely fold to a bet on the river. However, your pot odds wouldn't be all that bad...

this might be a good spot to try for a free showdown on the turn, but you dont want to get 3-bet

i think the flop could go either way, i might wait till turn, or i might cap if i dont think it will slow him down on the turn
