Stud 8 e-book

Howdy,

I'm new to 2 + 2, but thought I'd post to get some advice.

I wrote the book "How to Beat Low Limit 7 Card Stud Poker" that was published in 2003. My follow-up book is on stud 8, and goes into a bit more depth. I'm selling it as an e-book...just looking for some help as to where good sites are to sell it; I'll probably place a classified ad on the website here.

Please post a link to the entire book, so that I can read it for free and then give you an appropriate, informed response...

just put it on ebay then start spamming the party stud rooms... oh wait i think someone may have thought of that already. but seriously, if the book is any good and not too expensive i would buy it. let me know about it.

Thanks for the reply. Basicly the book is a lot like my first, but I like this a lot better. It is longer and more in-depth, and I also hired a mathematician to run odds information for me. Any poker book has generic odds - but how about odds for drawing to a low or trying to hit a flush as the cards you need are gone? I wanted those in there to make clear just how bad some bets can be.

Unfortunately for me, this book was rejected in print form. The publisher of my first book said that the information was good, but they are focusing on hold 'em now. Also, I was told by an editor that the focus of the book was "too technical" and wouldn't appeal to a broad audience (though I carefully explain how the game is played in the intro section...go figure). Conjelco was polite, but also said that the Zee book doesn't sell well, and they just did not think there was a market for stud 8.

I disagree. This is my favorite form of poker, because so many people play it (at the low limits I play at) like our friend stud hi. My favorite line at the card room: "Stud hi lo is more fun becuase you can play so many more hands." I also think this book fills a hole in that while it's a hold 'em world (a great game too with so many playing "as seen on TV") stud 8 still has it's group of people who love the game.

So, I went the e-book route. I'm not sure where I could go with this book to get it in print, but I do want to do something with it because I really like it and it's a little more detailed I think than my first book, version 1.0. Maybe a classified on here will help.

BTW, Mr. Zee's book is great - I own it, but I wanted something with a lot more detail. I'm a sequential kind of guy so organized it so I could say, look up "four to a low on fifth street" and read about it.

Any other help would be appreciated - currently this book just got up on an e-book retailer, but I haven't heard from other outlets. Or maybe someone could suggest how to market this book to other publishers? For now the e-book route seems best - at least I'll get more of a commission.

I think people would play more stud hi/low if you could find low limits in a casino. was in AC all weekend and the only game I saw was 15/30/45...just a tad over my head! I do agree that it is a great game though and it seems to be picking up in popularity, at least in terms of posts on here and number of people playing single table tourneys online. Good luck with the book. I may give it a read if the price is right as well.

Yes, it would be nice if there were lower limits - Canterbury (my "home" card room) has a $4/8 game but that rarely goes off. Thursday nights a $30/$60 game is played, but that's a bit steep for me, so as of late it's been Stars. There is another area casino that has a spread-limit stud 8 game, but it's a bit of a drive.

I hope more people play it in the future - at least on Stars the tables are always full.
