Default AA to the river

I've been trying not to lose too much with top pairs. What's the right move on the river? And should I have checked the turn?

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 max, 4 handed) converter

BB ($20.40)
Hero ($42.03)
Button ($17.30)
SB ($22.40)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.10.
<font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $1</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, SB (poster) calls $0.90, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>.

Flop: ($2.25) J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
SB checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $2</font>, SB calls $2.

Turn: ($6.25) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
SB checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $6</font>, SB calls $6.

River: ($18.25) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
SB calls $13.40 (All-In), Hero sighs.

No, you shouldn't have checked the turn. Absent a read, I call the river.

It's tough. Looks like your opponent possibly had Kx of hearts and backdoored a flush on you. I'm not to thrilled about calling this but I don't think he is deep enough to push you off this hand. Coinflip really, but at these limits I probably lean towards calling. Also, any info on villain regarding playing style? That would help determining if it's a call or fold.

I don't think there's any reason to assume Villain has backdoored a flush. Many players will play top pair like this or a missed straight draw like this. I don't think it's all that close without a read.
