Trip Queens Hand
The pre-flop raiser (UTG) in this hand is a little LAGgy. I don't have much of a read on MP but he seems loose and not overly aggressive.

Re: Trip Queens Hand
usually when someone else puts in the last bet, your best move is to check the river. the reason for this is because if you bet, not planning to 3-bet, you win 1 if he calls or lose 2 if he raises. if you check-raise, you win 2 if ahead, and lose 3 if behind (and you're less likely to lose the 3). so you're getting 3-2 instead of 2-1. JR taught me that and it's something that comes up pretty often.
also, there's very little chance he's going for a free showdown. if he's raising hearts, he doesn't have a hand that'll pay off anyway, so there's no value in betting there. here I don't know if I'd check-call or check-raise (probably check-raise), but the important part is that you should be checking here |

Re: Trip Queens Hand
Thanks this is really helpful. I was most interested in the river (my flop check was a whiffed c/r atempt).
I was unsure of whether I should check-call or bet-call here. I have read before about the idea of check-raising on the river in such situations but didn't quite "get it". Your explanation make this a lot more clear to me. |

Re: Trip Queens Hand
I'm not sure I like your turn 3-bet. It's very likely that UTG will call MP's raise with Ax, which is a probably holding.
So, I think I like calling the turn raise if UTG also calls and then donking the river. It's fun to make Ax feel real awkward, isn't it? |
