Default Micro-Limit Digest 11/23/05

ML Digest: 11/23/2005

This just in: King of the Kiddie Pool III is a go! Tournament to be held on Stars on Thursday, December 1 at 9 pm EST. This may or may not be a Limit Hold'Em tourney... look for the thread this week that will offer you a chance to vote!

If you didn't frequent the Micros this week, here's what you missed:

Dodging A Checkraise
*When to vary from "standard" play? Why do we prefer to make decisions based on math instead of our "intuition"? Did Hero make the right play for the wrong reason in this instance?

Your Notes Suck!
*You think you take good notes? Well, who is that mystery player that turns up in every hand you play? That one who seems to know what he's doing but every so often makes a weird play he can't defend? That one who's too timid to appropriately pump her flush draw? Or who spews chips bluffing with overcards? That player who seems really loose to everybody because he's on a heater, and suddenly everyone's calling his bluffs? That guy who can't resist limping j10o under the gun? Understanding that player is the most important poker play you'll make.

Big Draw OOP Against Possible Steal
*This is a long one, but read the whole thing. The discussion is fantastic...you don't want to miss the creamy filling in the Twinkie that is this thread.

Obvious Stuff vs. High VPIP Players
*If you're still recovering from the last thread, here's the antidote. While many excellent posts generate lots of discussion, occasionally, nothing more needs to be said.

Your Thought Process Through A Hand
*It's easy to fold J3o UTG because the books say so. Once you decide to play a hand you have to make some decisions yourself. Some things to think about.

Thinking on the Fly: Out Counting Exercise
*How well do you really count outs in the heat of battle? Grade yourself.

Instances of WA/WB
*This is actually a classic thread that got bumped this week. It should be required reading.

2005 MicroQuests
*Follow the journeys of your fellow microers. Need some inspiration? Consolation? You'll find it here.

Can Someone Help Me Take Better Notes
*If you've got a handle on that one pesky player from earlier, here are some tips on tracking the rest of them.
