HU on river, no cap, 2nd nuts--how far? (Poll)
Crypto, $2/$4, 6 max, 5 handed
Hero is SB. Hero is dealt Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. UTG limps, two folds, hero raises, BB calls, UTG calls. Flop: 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Hero checks, BB checks, UTG bets, hero calls, BB raises, UTG caps, hero calls, BB calls. Okay, maybe a bit too much FPS on the flop, but these were both somewhat aggressive players, I was majorly stuck, and wanted to scoop a big pot. Seems to be working so far as both UTG and BB love their hands. Turn: 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Hero donkbets, BB calls, UTG raises, hero raises, BB folds, UTG caps, Hero calls. Well, so far things are looking great. I've got to put UTG on a set--88 or 33, or *maybe* Q8. River: 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Hero bets, UTG raises, hero raises, UTG raises... So, how far do I take this? My set of queens are no longer the nuts, but I'm only losing to JT. I can't imagine even the most aggressive player playing a gutshut this way, given the heavy action so far. Even J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] is a major stretch seeing how he didn't slow down when the turn blanked and he easily could have just called. Should I go all the way to the felt assuming he has a lower set, or just call after a few more bets? |

go all the way, and i hate your flop play, and i made a rhyme, ay!
also UTG can't cap the flop after only a bet and a raise. |

I find it hard making a decision without a read on UTG.

Go!Go!Go!
I agree with your hand read. Would add KK and AA being less likely. |

Do you have any read at all on UTG? I think we take this one to the felt, but even a read based upon a small hand sample would help with that decision.
Also, how many more bets until we hit the felt? Does anyone think that I should not be basing my "to the felt" decision on the number of bets left? |

Dont stop until you run out of chips, and I am enjoying this apparently new craze of making polls.

[/ QUOTE ] I was actually looking at the flop play as well, and while it turned out that the betting got capped for him, I don't think that I would have played it the same. The question I have is, what do we want to do here? If we bet out, then the worst any gets is 7:1 to call. If we check/raise then we face BB with 4:1 calling us cold. Are we thinking the check-raise is best to lessen the odds given to the flush draw and crush the odds for a gutshot? Also, we were the preflop aggressor, but the read is that these players are not timid. Is this pretty much a read based decision as to whether or not we go for the C/R? |

I don't think there is enough info provided to make an informed decision here. |

[/ QUOTE ] flop play is bet/raise/raise/raise as much as you can. we have a set, we are always betting the flop after we raise preflop anyway. they expect us to bet. by check raising, we're either giving a free card or we're killing the action. |

Re: HU on river, no cap, 2nd nuts--how far? (Poll)
Okay, yeah, my flop play probably sucked. I have trouble with maximizing my profits with great hands short-handed. I probably should have bet out and hoped to get raised anyway, rather than two folds or a call down, like I find usually happens.
Oh, added info: to the felt is 16 more BB for me; villain has more chips. |
