2.5x his raise? Seems pretty standard?

Re: How to maximise in this spot?
very often im calling in this spot. a reraise is gonna get mighty tricky with a big pot out of position on a lot of flops. I'd call and either lead or c-raise a lot of flops.

Re: How to maximise in this spot?
If you call here, your opponent can't really put you on an exact hand. You might have Ax or a PP, etc. If there is a friendly flop (no A/K/3-flush, etc.) A lead bet or check-raise would be a good line. Depending on your read, if you think your opponent will bet in an attempt to take down the pot, I would go for a check-raise.

Re: How to maximise in this spot?
Your calling because you dont want to play a big pot out of position with QQ? That doesnt sound like you Mike!
Your giving a possible steal raise a chance to out flop you,and the villain only has 12k to your 34K. I would reraise to about 4k and hope he pushed. If I run into AA/KK or AK so be it. |

[/ QUOTE ] Why is a reraise going to get mighty tricky here? My opponent is the second shortest stack at the table. He's made a weak raise from MP. *IF* he's feeling desperate I think I can get him to push with a pretty-wide range of holdings. And do I really want to let him see a flop cheaply, when I have a hand that can be so tricky to play postflop if high cards come? -Scott |

I'm an idiot, i thought raiser was MP3 who had 33k. Clearly against the guy with 12k you are repopping it. My bad.
