First, I see no reason to pay more than your share of the bills before you're married. "Your share" being 50% of the rent, utilities, food, etc. If you eat a shitload more than her, or nicer things, then throw some more in for food. Ditto for things like TiVO if you absolutely must have it and she doesn't really care. I'm amazed that some say they would completely subsidize another person's life. There's a reason its called a "marriage contract," not a "marriage freeload."
