The reason I did that was because I wanted to show them I can't be pushed around, also notice how this allows me to muck to a minbet on the turn since I kept the pot small. This is a great play and you should all seriously consider adding it to your arsenal. JMO

Most raises in NL are done not because of folding equity.
The most basic purpose of raise is to get more money into the pot when you think you have the best hand. This is what donk B is doing here :-)

Best wishes !

Unfortunately, it didn't go to showdown. Too bad the flush draw missed.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ TWP (6 max, 6 handed) converter

saw flop|saw showdown

MP ($98)
CO ($116)
Button ($96.63)
SB ($236.29)
TWP ($242.97)
UTG ($97.70)

Preflop: TWP is BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.50.
1 fold, MP calls $1, CO raises to $2, 2 folds, TWP calls $1, MP calls $1.

TWP checks, MP bets $1, CO raises to $3, TWP folds, MP calls $2.

Turn: ($12.50) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)

River: ($14.50) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)

Since we're on the topic of why donks do what they do, explain this hand. I had to sit out a couple just to take this one in.... it's not a bad beat.. I promise.

I don't remember all the details but you'll get the point.

4 players in hand. We'll call them Player A, B, C, and DONK.

A - $100
B - $200
C - $250
DONK - $450

By the turn, the board is TJQK rainbow.

There is small betting and reraising around, all four players are still in. A ends up all in, everyone else has called. At this point you would think you know what everyone has.

Turn comes rag.

Player B bets a small amount. Table chatter begins about hurry up, we all know it's chop chop chop.

Player C raises like $50. More chatter about "This is silly, just check it down." I hate when people talk when about hands they aren't in, but whatever.

DONK calls.

B raises all in, C calls, Donk calls. HUGE POT. A, B, and C all show down Ace something for the nuts. DONK mucks KQ offsuit. Instead of paying off PS, we 3 way chop the main pot and B and C chop the side.

BTW, DONK ended up losing the rest of his $200 or so in the next 15 minutes or so. Lucky for me, I got a hand when he was in the pot and took his last 100 something...

Needless to say, he's on my friends list on PS.

I'm always a little weary about teensy raises.
