Default Mason et. al. If Turbo Strategies are So Bad....

Why not publish some correct strategies for use with Wilson and possibly even the Workware Poker Compiler in your books?

For those of us that can read code, the WorkWare approach, though it never caught on, struck me as the best simulation approach.

For others, the Wilson Table based approach is probably good.

Anyways, since everyone seems to want to use these simulators, would be nice to have concise 2+2 strategies for them.

Sincerely,
AA

Hi AA:

You're asking us to do a great deal of work for no return. I'm sorry, but at this point in time, that's just not going to happen.

best wishes,
Mason

Better yet, 2+2 can come up with some great strategies for WinholdemBot. I think that would be peachy.

Maybe they could come remodel my house so I could sell it for more money. Maybe they could tweak my time machine and get it to go back/forward more than 263 days! Maybe they could send customers to my website so I could sell more of my watchamacallits for more after they are done perfecting it for me!

sorry, bored at work, lol

AA,

Since you didn't get any positive responses, I'll throw you a bone (kidding ).

Limiting myself to TTH since that is what I know, I think having a TTH profile that plays 2+2 would be useful. Also not that difficult or time consuming to construct. I think Mason is overestimating the work involved to do this. On the other hand, you may be overestimating the utility of such a profile.

I set up a profile that represents my playing style. This took me several hours but having done it once I could do it more quickly a second time. So it is fairly easy. But there are limits to the programmability of the profiles. The best result I would expect would be to produce a 2+2 profile that plays a simple ABC 2+2 poker. (Hmmm, I suppose it could be argued there can be no such a thing. Anyway it wouldn't be "real" expert poker, but still useful.)

With Ed Miller's book coming out soon (I hope!), a MajorKong TTH profile would be fun. Of course, business considerations may preclude that, but I may just make my own....

Hi Mason,
Hmmm... It'd really just be a concise summary of your strategies. I'd tend to think it be a massive selling point if you published it in your books.

Might also cut right to the heart of some of the strategies too.

Just my opinion but it could be a great time saver for folks learning... and of course, over time you could market updates! ;-)

Sincerely,
AA

i don't think Turbo Hold'em is any valuable to many people. personally i didn't find it helpful at all other than playing it as a game.

also i think people are too carried away by these sims.

technically, if you took the profile Smilin Mack and set it as your advisor in TTH V.4 - ...you'd be very close to S&M's profiles....I know the designers tried to create that profile to emulate their advice...

(now, if you want their standards for loose games, go to Happy Howie, but Smilin Mack is the one they created to try to make it like David and Mason)
