I cant see why its rude, or why anyone would think it rude. $200 would seem sufficient but it's your choice. Since many people playing live are playing at higher stakes than theyre used to (and have the bankroll for) its not a bad strategy to raise a little more frequently.

Just buy-in for $100, but be ready to reload if you lose a pot.

I know a guy who regularly buys in to 4/8 with a rack, plus $200 in Red ($5 chips). That way it doesn't get noticed and he never has to worry about rebuying.

I just buy in for a rack and rebuy if I go down much.

I hate playing with less than 12 BB on the table. I tried buying in for two racks, but noticed it raised a few eyebrows at some of the casinos I play at. I felt like people identified me as a "serious" player. At those casinos, I buy in for one rack and buy another after I lose a pot. Buying one rack at a time doesn't get the same attention from the other players.

On the other hand, in other places where people like to throw around chips more buying for two racks is no big deal. At those, I'll usually buy in for 15-20 BB.

So, it all depends.

buy in for 500, it will make people play looser as most will view u as a poor player who is there just to donate chips, bigger buyin players are usually of the weaker variety IMO, any thoughts?

Some people believe its not a very good idea to buy in for that much. Opinions please

[/ QUOTE ]

no, its perfectly fine. don't worry bout the retards. i always buyin for AT LEAST 30bb for whatever game i play. i always buy in for 300 when i play 4/8 because 300 is much more convienent then 240.

whenever i buyin for 300, i always get comments like "you're in the wrong game kid", or stuff like "wow what are you doing". even the retard chip runners make stupid comments. they always say "you don't need that much, ill just give you a hundred".

If your pile takes up a significant portion of the table (see the pic above), you are a tool. How is the dealer supposed to get cards to the player in the 9 seat?

Tell that tool in the pic that I'll be impressed when his pile of black chips is that big.

There was a guy who played in Tunica when I was dealing there who bought in for his whole BR. In white chips. Every night. Usually 2-3 dimes' worth. It would take him a half-hour to get his chips from the cage to the table, unracked, and stacked--and that's if the table was near the cage.

Of course, there was the occasional spill during this process, which always made me laugh like hell. Then people would look at me when I LOL'd, as if I was the jerk.

Buy in for $100,000 if you want, I don't care. Just use high denomination chips. Don't hog half the table for your little vanity display.
