It's hard to build a bankroll to start taking on 2/4 based only on poker. In a good month I might get 10000 hands in and at 2 bb/100 that is only 200 bucks a month. I guess it's time to take a shot at 2/4

[/ QUOTE ]

You'd made $800 if you averaged 2bb/100 for 10,000 hands of 2/4. I take it you are playing .5/1 right now?

There are still plenty of bonuses out there.

Well I am beating the game at around that at OTHER SITES, but at Absolute I am break even. There was a thread about this on here that many found it tough to beat the games at ABS for any kind of a decent rate. Winning only 2bb/100 at .5/1 at Party, Paradise will not mean you will even break even at 2/4 Absolute.

I've made close to 3000 in 6 months from low limit whoring, so I guess for me the party is over and I need to take a shot at 2/4 with this roll.

I am in the exact same boat as you, but I think that I am going to take a break from whoring for a while and actually work on my game for a bit. I am also going to take a 10k hand shot at NL and then play a bunch of Sit and Gos.

I just did a test and I can confirm that between last night and now things DID change....

It is now 0.50 and NOT 0.25, I did some research and on my 50k hands at absolute at 0.50/1.00 and 1.00/2.00 and the following is what I found....

(all data based on 6-Max Limit Holdem, with a rakeback deal of 27.5%)

At 0.50/1.00
0.25 = 45% of hands raked
0.50 = 11% of hands raked (wow, didn't think that it would be that low)

At 1/2
0.25 = 72% of hands raked
0.50 = 51% of hands raked (works out to 2.55BB/100

Rakeback at 0.50/1.00 is 1.18BB/100

Rakeback at 1.00/2.00 is 1.06BB/100

Looks like the bonus + rakeback is going to be:

@0.50/1.00 = 2.28BB/100

@1.00/2.00 = 3.61BB/100

At these rates I don't think that you want to play 0.50/1.00 at Absolute anymore. The 1.00/2.00 is going to be pretty good, but by no means a great deal. I think that you can get better deals if you are playing 1.00/2.00.

Enjoy my findings :-)

Work on your multi-tabling skills?

If you can play 6 tables, this is only ~ 26 hours a month.

I play 8 and can do close to 500 hands in an hour. Others here play even more than that!

Anyone know what % of hands are raked at .50 and up at 2/4 full ring?

They've confirmed it on their own forum.

Bummer. I can see why they did it, as I've paid less than zero rake there so far, but it still will probably cause me to play elsewhere for the moment.

Experienced the new bonus change today. Absolute won't be getting much play from me now.

So for a former .5/1 whore where can we turn to next?

For now I'll 4 table 1/2 and see how the bonus clears at ABS, but I'm sure there is a better bonus structure at that limit somewhere. I guess the Crypto's are where I'll head. I dunno...ABS was an easy $200 - $500 a month for me in bonus.
