ok so my logic at the time wsa that by folding I could avoid pushing into the chip leader and the Short Stack is going to be BB next hand with Chip Leader as SB...where did I go wrong.

Small stack here is not nearly small enough to use this logic; he still has ~5 BBs, and is not in imminent danger of being blinded away.

Make the blinds 200/400 and maybe you're right to fold (or at least it wouldn't be a crying shame), but at 75/150, you really need to be pushing this.

I don't mind this fold too much, depends on what sort of hands you think BB will call a push with. Breakeven's around top 18%, which is 33+, most aces, kings down to KTs or so. If he's tighter than that you're picking up equity, and if he's looser your burning equity. He probably shouldn't expect you to be loose enough to make calling 18% worth it (and if he knew your hand/range he should only be calling between about top 8-13%), but I wouldn't want to test whether he knows that most of the time.

Other factors to consider are how often he's stealing, and how timid the other two stacks have been in letting him. If short stack is playing scared and big stack is attacking him, I'm more inclined to fold until/unless shorty catches a hand and picks up some chips.

I don't agree with the pushing mentality for this hand, the BB has a massive stack and none of the players at the table can put him in any danger, if he calls you're likely to be only a small favorite at best, and with that many chips he's going to be calling more than you'd like. What I usually do to counteract this situation is raise it up to around 350, chances are he'll call with some marginal holdings preflop but he probably won't be calling a bet on the flop without top pair or a good draw so I'd try and take it away from him on the flop should any scare cards come. In my experience this works a large percentage of the time at the 11s and has the added bonus of netting you some extra chips aside from the blinds.

Another reason for this is you're in danger of becoming the shortstack, if the shorty doubles up then you're going to be the shortstack when the blinds come around, but if you take the pot away from the big stack you'll be in much better position to work some chips away from the small stacks.
