JTs Raise Concept
Is this miss applying the JTs raise concept seeing that I am in the BB or does it apply to all multi-handed pots?
Also, I missed a raise on the turn and river didnt I? Re: JTs Raise Concept
I think the raise preflop is fine given that the limpers are on average quite loose, but checking might be slightly better.
I would definitely have raised the turn, via the free showdown move. |

Re: JTs Raise Concept
Notice that relative position gives you a perfect opportunity to take control of the hand on the turn. When SB bets into you, I'd raise. This will most likely get the pot heads-up, and SB could be stealing/betting a worse J/6/5, etc...

Re: JTs Raise Concept
I thinking raising the turn is best here. Also, your preflop raise is fine but I prefer to apply this concept when I have position.

Re: JTs Raise Concept
5 callers to me in BB with JTs - I raise this out of the BB about 100% of the time.
I would raise the turn to weed out overcalls behind you...I probably would check behind on the river. |

Re: JTs Raise Concept
I like the turn call b/c SB could have easily missed a flop c/r. I think you have to bet the river though.

Re: JTs Raise Concept
I have to disagree on the turn call.
I think the amount hero gains by forcing other J's to fold and protecting his hand against overcards/draws outweighs the potential loss when he's behind. If villain missed a check-raise on the flop, he often will still not have a hand good enough to three-bet the turn, and will often check on the river. Hero can take the free showdown, while investing the same amount as a call down likely would have cost, while gaining tons more in protection value. Seems a very clear-cut raise to me. |

Re: JTs Raise Concept
Yeah I agree with the turn raise. The thing I was worried about was my awful position in the hand and of course thats why I wanted to know about the preflop raise.
If SB 3-bets the turn what is my line on the river unimproved? |

The thing I was worried about was my awful position in the hand [/ QUOTE ] Your position is actually perfect in this hand. As for a three-bet from the SB, I might just fold right then and there. |
