Default Queen High

20-40 game. Bad game. Very serious players. Not a word spoken. Not one. Dead quiet.

After about a half an hour of folding, I raise. Only the big blind calls. By the river, he bets, I call. He pauses. He looks back at his cards. He looks at the board. He grins. He says, "Queen High." It show my cards and take the pot.

Another half an hour goes by. Very serious players. Not a word spoken. Not one. Dead quiet.

I can't take it anymore. The man on my left yawns. I tell him, "Hey, no yawning allowed, this is a no yawn table. If you want to yawn you have to take the must move."

He looks at me like I'm crazy. He then sees me smile and he breaks out laughing. He says, "Hey, I'm in shock someone spoke here. The only words I've heard in the last hour were,'Queen high'."

The gentleman who had queen high stares at the speaker and then they both break out laughing, as does the entire table. Bad enough having queen high, much less being reminded of it.

There's more than one way to loosen up a game.

That is a cute and funny story, Andy. I was once in a super tight 10-20 game when a similar thing happened. Two locals checked down a minature pot with not much of a board. At the end, Bobby says "3 high" and the table roared. Another funny incident happened a few days ago in that game. I was hitting lots of hands and I flopped the nut straight in a raised pot. One lone caller followed me to the river and when I turned over my cards a local said "the nuts". Yes, she always has the nuts cuz she's a "Nutflopper". A new term has now been invented for our game. LGPG, Babe [img]/forums/images/icons/heart.gif[/img]

if you mean that the games aren't always good at the commerce, I agree. but I think you will find more good games there than anywhere else, especially at 30-60 and higher. I haven't spent much time in the 15 or 20 games, but from what I've seen of them, the one andy was in was very unusual.

Yes, it was at the Commerce. I was sitting between Andy and the "Queen High" guy.
Andy moved to a 30/60 a few minutes later.
I drove to the Bike.
20/40 games at the Commerce were bad that day, due to the $300 buy-in limit hold' em tournament at the Bicycle.
