1) After you burn down a candle, you get a stub. By using 6 stubs, you can make a new candle. You have 1001 stubs, how many new candles can you make?

2) The sum of Eve and Ann's ages is 44. Eve is twice as old as Ann was when Eve was half as old as Ann will be when Ann is three times as old as Eve was when Eve was three times as old as Ann. How old is Eve?

3) Write a 10-digit number. The first digit tells how many zeroes there are in the number. The second digit tells how many ones that are in the number. The third digit tells how many twos there are in the number, and so on. The last number tells how many nines there are in the number. What is this number?

4) AB * C = DE * F = GHI. The letters represent all the numbers 1-9. What is the number GHI? There are two solutions.

5)A man left home one day and made three left turns and met a man with a mask on. Who did he meet?

Opps yea I guess there are two correct answers for #5. Kinda a dumb one I guess.

The possibilities I come up with are:

Eve 10, Ann 6
E 20, A 12
E 30, A 18
E 40, A 24

Here's my reasoning:

At one point, Eve was 3x Ann. Start with A1 and E3. Then we look when Ann is 3x Eve. So A9. Now we need Eve's age to be 1/2 Ann's, but we can't because we can't take 1/2 of 9. This rules out starting with any odd number for Ann's original age.

Now we look at Ann=2, Eve =6. Ann's next age is 18 (3x Eve). Eve's next age is 9 (1/2 Ann). When Eve is 9, Ann is 5 (difference in age is 4). Now Eve is 2x Ann's calculated age - 10. And Ann is then 6. This equals 16.

Try for Ann=4, Eve=12. This gives us ages of 20 and 12, equaling 32.

Try for Ann=6, Eve=18. This gives us ages of 30 and 18, equaling 48.

And so on.

This one is probably the most difficult, and is almost unfair. If no one gets it I'll post a solution in a bit.

"...when Eve was 3x as old as Ann." Does this mean 3x as old as Ann was at that time? Or 3x as old as Ann is now?
