Default The big jump

ok, so over the last 30k hands at 5/10 6 max on Party i have averaged 1.8 BB/100. I now have about a 6,500 bankroll and am wondering when a good time to move to 10/20 would be. Should i be worried about a huge jump in the competition, or maybe i need a bigger bankroll? I feel like my game has recently got quite a bit better as PT has shown. Please give me your thoughts if you're an experienced 5/10 - 10/20 6 max guy. Thanks a lot.

Not enough you want 10k+ at least.

1.8bb/100 is nothing special either this will most likely drop making your variance much worse.

Don't do it! Keep building your BR at 5/10

ya, i agree i shouldnt be moving anywhere right now, as i still want to master SH more and more. I was just wondering when a good time for me would be to make this move, or what my BB/100 should be at 5/10 before i can be confident of beating the 10/20 game. thanks for the input.

I started by taking "a stab" at 10/20 once my roll was $8000-$9000.

My plan was to take about a $1000 for 10/20 and see what happened. Fortunately, for me, I started out hot and it worked out.

Like others have said, though, you're going to want at least a $10K bankroll to play 10/20 SH consistently. However, I see no problems with taking "shots" here and there - as long as you're completely okay to lose that money and immediately drop back down.

Final thought: If you're planning on playing 10/20 consistently... be aware that you can easily lose $2000 in a day. That can hurt a $5-6K bankroll, both financially and pschologically. Be prepared.

FWIW, I only spent 14,000 hands at 5/10 SH. I ran g00t.

1.8BB/100 is pretty crappy for 5/10 -- if you're planning on moving up already. I'd get that up to at least 2.5BB/100 or 3.0BB/100 before I seriously considered moving up. Nothing wrong with taking a 100BB shot, though.

I think this is silly. This is the kind of thinking that got me stuck at 5/10 for two months longer than I should have been there.

dropping down to two tables really helped me when I made the jump. I also did it with only $5000 and said if I dropped below $4000 I would go back to $5/$10.

Yeah I completely agree, judging someone (and their skill) by their winrate is really pointless/useless
If he feels solid enough and thinks he has a good shot - and has a sufficient bankroll - then he should move up, its the best way to learn and you'll never know until you try

I realize 1.8BB/100 could definitely be improved, but is it realistic to get it up to 2.5-3BB/100 when I'm 3-4 tabling? This seems quite high - if anyone is doing this let me know. That's like $100+ an hour with rakeback. Anyone?
