fold preflop, bet river (1/3-1/2 pot is good).

To people saying villain can't call river without an ace you're dumb, b/c now xorbie can have missed flush draw! Fathom you bet min, what hands are he folding (almost none), now figure out how much extra to add on to that min to get a call. Yes villain probably won't call an allin with a worse hand, but some bet is right here.

flop and turn are both fine (though other lines welcome).

I like the line, but I think if you can find a way to fold to a min-c/r or whatever on the river, it's probably worth a value bet. Two points:

1) From the way you've described this opponent, and from the way the hand played, it sounds like he's flat-out not capable of check/raising the river with a hand that you beat.

2) The range of hands that you beat but that would call a small value bet is small, but not nonexistent, right? It at least includes KQ and KK.

He ended up having 9T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. I highly doubt he would call a bet here, but I suppose I should have bet.

no you should have not bet on the end. you will get clobbered more often than not. you only beat a bluff so why bet. no one with a calling hand on the end that check raised you will not beat your garbage hand.
he played fairly well by trying to take it away from you. probably most times you should let him. your hand was garbage or did i say that. dont go getting broke with these kind of hands in pots that you shouldnt have been in the first place.
you want to keep it as small as possible once you made the mistake of playing after that flop.
i hope you see what i mean. good luck.

Hey Ray,

In a shorthanded setting, what hands are you taking a flop with from the button to an open?
