A number of people in my office have sony & dells running at 16x12 & 19x12. While the text looks small, it's remarkably easy to read. I can imagine if you were reading text all day it would be annoying, but poker tables would be plenty big.

I work for Sony and get an employee discount and still bought a Dell 9200 because the coupons were much better. I work in design so I'm used to the small resolution, but 4 tabling with no overlap isn't bad at all and the screen is nice. I got the WUXGA 9200.

Dell does have an 8600 that's WSXGA so it's 1680 x 1050. I'm thinking about getting that. It'll be a little bit of a hassle to 4-table, but 2-tabling will be very easy. Plus I'm going to use it for school stuff too, and don't have the money to get a Sony unfortunately. I'm guessing that when 4-tabling it only overlaps on the chatbox, is this right?

It's different for each product, but it was only a couple hundred off on laptops. Plasma TV's and digital cameras get the most off. The discount is usually at cost.

Not exactly, depending on the site, it may overlap some buttons. Id certainly suggest you pay up fur UXGA....wish I had known

It would look something like this:

However other sites pose more problems in terms of overlap.

For example, Crypto sites:

notice the action button and 4 players are overlapped in the non active windows

Well, I don't play the cryptos ever.

This is about what I figured it would come down to. There is no way the WUXGA screen is going to be worth it on a 15.4" monitor. So, it's either put up with the overlap on the 8600, or save up some more money and get the Sony. I really have no clue what to do. Maybe I'll score $800 on the tables tonight and it'll make the decision easy.

The 9200 is going to be replaced by the new 9300 the 24th.
It will have the new sonoma processor, DDR2 and a mean geforce card + optional WUXGA screen if you want one.
