Default Previous observations getting me in trouble...

Played the $500 buy-in at the WSOP on Saturday...

To make a long story short, I saw the same guy make some horrible plays/calls. For instance... all-in preflop with QQ against a guy who was obviously playing AA. Re-raising to get heads up with 9/8 suited... stuff like this.

Anyways, he makes and "obvious" play at my big blind with the blinds @ $100-200 and each of us with $3,800 in chips. I call with 10-10 in the BB and bet 1/2 pot bet when the board comes under cards.

He moves all-in and I have to fold... as a courtesy he shows me AA.

Do you guys have problems getting yourself in trouble against bad players?

I seem to be doing this often... usually in tournament I insta fold 10's or try to get in cheap and flop a monster. However, as my reads get better... I feel I'm pushing to many marginal situations against players I feel are below-average and/or I feel I have a good read on

Please advise?

If I'm looking at a raise by a solid player or a large field I fold... it's just my policy because I know I have to dodge 1/2 the deck on the flop... and I'm very vulnerable to an over pair in a raised flop.

Am I wrong here?

p.s. This is fairly early in the tournament with descent size stacks...

Late in a tourny and/or with a short stack... I'm usually moving all in with 10-10

A quarter of the deck. And heads up, at best an eighth of the deck.

So you feel comfortable playing in a raised pot with 10-10?

How many overcards can you take heat from? Are you willing to call an all-in on a flop with 10's if it has A)no over cards B) two over cares c)one overcards?

Am I missing the boat here?

Depends what the flop is for me. If I have tens and no ace flops, I am more willing to move in than if there is an ace. If a jack or queen flops, I am feeling fairly safe, and if a king flops, I will tiptoe on ice, but won't check fold. Since alot of people are willing to play any ace early, I usually base flop judgements on that. Only time it gets me in trouble is when they have something like AJ or AQ or an overpair.

If there are no overs and they push, I will typically call, 1 over and they push before I act, it really depends on circumstances, stack sizes, and previous reads.

Hope that helps...

Yes, I feel comfortable playing in a raised pot with TT.

I can take heat from three overcards if I put him on a smaller pair, or something like QQ on an AKJ flop. Obviously, most AKJ flops result in folds, but I don't fold preflop.
