Default Can I make this call?

I've only just joined the table so no reads. Can I make this call against the short stack? The more I look at this the worse it looks. I'm getting slightly worse than 3 to 1 odds to call and everyone else has folded.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (9 handed) converter

saw flop|<font color="#C00000">saw showdown</font>

MP3 ($36.25)
<font color="#C00000">Hero ($52.30)</font>
<font color="#C00000">Button ($14.70)</font>
SB ($12.50)
BB ($10.90)
UTG ($16.20)
UTG+1 ($20.50)
MP1 ($28.75)
MP2 ($49.80)

Preflop: Hero is CO with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
UTG calls $0.50, <font color="#666666">4 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $1.5</font>, Button calls $1.50, SB calls $1.25, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, UTG calls $1.

SB checks, UTG checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $4.5</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Button raises to $13.2</font>, SB folds, UTG folds, Hero calls $8.70.

I don't think a call there is even debatable. You put in your CB like you were supposed to and got raised, time to give up. Also, pot sided raise PF is 2.25, I'd make it something like 2.5 tho cause you have half the table behind you.

What hands are you ahead of and what is the likelihood of villain holding one of those hands? Live and learn. Easy fold.

Make a real raise preflop to $2.50. As played, fold to the shortstack raise.

3 BBs isnt a big enough raise after he limped. Also, the call is stubborn and -EV. Hes beating you almost every time, and the odds arent there esepcailly because he could A7 Q7 etc. Raise more preflop, and keep in mind the CB isnt mandatory, its suggested.

Around these parts, we often use this guide for how much to raise preflop with limpers present:

4xBB + 1BB per limper.

That's where I got my number from. It usually works well. And it should be the starting point. Every table is different however. Sometimes you have to adjust up or down depending how much play the table is giving PFR's. But 90% of the time it'll be just right.
