Default Too Standard?

Bu is 25/19 after about 50 hands, he has been playing a a bit passive on flop and aggro on turn. Co is 30/12 after the same. I'm playing under a new sn, and have been tight and showing only winners so far.

I play 2/4 and I stumbled into the mid high forum. I don't understand the turn check, unless you intend to c/r

I thought that if he had aa or kk or qq he would probably just call the flop once the other player had folded, in order to raise me on the turn. If I was ahead, he had six outs and wasn't folding. If I bet and got raised, I would probably have to fold (neither option would be good, cause he would probably bluff around the correct amount). If he bets a hand that's behind then the result is the same as me betting and him calling. If he's ahead I save one bet. All that being said, I'm still not sure about the decision.

bet the turn. you do NOT want to give a free card to overcards. what are you going to do on the river if he has AQ? Probably give the pot away. with 99, you are very vulnerable to overcards. you might cost yourself a bet when you are behind, but you are costing yourself a rather large pot those times you are ahead. Please, lead the turn.

He is calling the turn with overs, not folding.

Is that a problem if your two choices are he calls for a bet, or he gets a free river?

If he was folding overs on the turn, not betting would be a much bigger mistake, assuming not betting is a mistake. It a huge difference in terms of EV.

What should I do if I bet and get raised on the turn?

I'm now thinking that it is best to check against a good known player and bet against, a weak player, which was the case here. Still, I don't know what I would do with a turn raise ... thoughts?
