Preety passive preflop game with big stacks trying to bust each other

I limp UTG+1 with KcJc, folded to MP who makes it 40, MP+1 calls folded to me i call

flop is J53 with 2 diamonds, i check, mp checks, MP+1 bets 60, i raise to 200, MP(PF Raiser) folds, MP+1 thinks and calls

Your were right to fold. However the way you posted this it seems as if he bluffed you. But you were there and you know better than words if his grimace was sincere or not. Perhaps bet the turn harder is all i can say.
turn (pot 535) T non diamond
I bet 400, opponent grimaces, picks up his cards in that verticle "almost gonna muck them" manner and finally just calls

river 2d
i check, villian bets 280, i think and fold

The grimmace is usually a sign that he has a strong hand but is trying to pretend he's weak.

Or that he's an awful player, and doesn't want to pay that much with a draw.

Either way, it looks like he's beat on the river. Nice laydown.

No way i'm laying down here...You've got top pair, good kicker and you're getting a great price. You're probably beat. Call anyway!

So i fold, he shows his flush in awe of my laydown, the rest of the table was preety amazed too, obviously they had put me on a much larger hand, a few of them were almost positive i folded a set there (which i would'nt have).

I made this fold for a few reasons, i've been making these "automatic" calls on the river and feel like i'm spewing chips with them, why would'nt i go with a read... thats why i make them.

This also sends a message to the table which is that i'm not going to be easily value bet and pay off draws... i realize thinking players may draw for scare cards to combat this but most of these guys weren't really thinking

If we're just talking about metagame image here, this fold is horrible. Even bad players notice when a guy bets up a pot and then folds for a tiny bet on the river. So much so that the other players at your table were talking about it. Any benefit from the "you can't value bet me" is far outweighed by the fact that your gonna now have guys taking shots at you

Are you talking about people taking shots at you. That's difficult to adjust to.
