Well, I'd respond, but it's useless, because this thread is going to degenerate into flaming about the current ESPN team.

I really don't mind Norman Chad that much. He has a great sense of humor and a lot of witty one liners. The only problem is that he knows absolutely nothing about poker.

Not true, he knows that "The ace of spades is the prettiest card in the deck."

This isn't really true. I think he knows a lot about lowball and split games. The fact that he doesn't provide high-end in-depth hold 'em analysis really does not bother me as much as it does others--his line about Witteles re: dry cleaning makes the season.

Also, who was Chris Marlowe?

Here's a question for everyone. What does Norm's sidekick bring to the broadcast? Norm brings his sense of humor and occasional ineptitude, whereas Lon brings only the latter.

Lon is just a voice. He also commentates SCRABBLE.

Who else can add insight like (on a 3492 board with AA and JJ all in) "Now he's picked up a wheel draw!"

yeah, the iron and dry cleaning was a pisser. It's just that he uses his 'stock jokes' so often that a regular viewer gets annoyed very fast.

I've never watched a limit event on TV. I passed out twice, thank god the commercials are loud or I would have missed the end...

Phil Helmuth and Gabe Kaplan in 1997 did an excellent job, their hand analys were among the best I seen. Way way better than the current wsop clowns, back then they commented for the intrested, now the comments are made to make more people intrested. Seems like they can't say one thing without inserting a stupid joke in it.

I never liked Marlowe, even though he was beter than the ones before him, seems to me that he knews to little about the game. Marlowe also did 88 and 89.
