Is this check raise for value AND protection???

i would bet hoping to 3bet, with this ragged board there is n reason to think that anyone will bet, especially a late postion player...with some reads that their are aggressive players late then going for a c/r is the best play...

But it would really stink to have it checked through. I'd rather make a straighforward bet. But I guess you have a point about the chances of someone betting when its 7 to the flop.

I'd lean towards the check-raise for protection's sake

Chances of it being checked through are extremely small. Even if that doesn happen, almost no matter what falls on the turn you'd still be ahead, maybe be able to grab a few bets from it.

You should not be playing 65o in the SB in a 1/3 blind structure.
