Which is worse?
I have a theory about this. And NO, you can't answer "say they are both a 1BB loss" the question is about which feels worse, and unless you are a total robot, one of the two is going to feel worse (more annoying, depressing, frustrating, whatever).

Re: Which is worse?
I accidently voted for the wrong one - I was thinking "which is better"
I everyone is going to say it feels worse to win and then lose it all back, simply because we tend to hang onto the emotions that we leave the game with. |

Re: Which is worse?
Without prejudicing the results (although who really reads the thread before voting?), I think you're right, and have a couple of other reasons.
1) People impose narrative structure on events, even when there isn't one. There's a beginning, a middle, and an end. We prefer the story of hardship followed by triumph to the story of success followed by ruining it. Even those of us who know that it's all one long session fall victim to this. 2) The up then down is mentally more likely to be recorded in the emotions as a loss of 26BB because money in our stack is psychologically ours, whereas losing money out of our stack doesn't count as much until the session is over. I guess this is going to turn out to be a one sided poll, but I wanted to see if my theory was right (and I have to do something, since I'm still / again on tilt). |

Re: Which is worse?
I guess I'm a total robot. When I finish the session, both feel precisely identical. When I play poker, I check my emotions at the door.

For the record, I wasn't trying to be sarcastic, I am genuinely interested and respectful.

I've been playing poker for over 40 years. I believe in the long run. I study Zen.

Re: Kurn
It sounds from your post your more of a LIMIT player...If you play mostly NL I admire that statement greatly and would ask ...are you saying you NEVER make an -EV play in order to take a stab at a pot vs a guy who is bullying? Or calling when you are getting slightly less than the correct odds?
