They're very good poker players?

Just a thought.

I don't understand how some of these guys can continue to go deep in these humongous fields. Jacksup is still in and has a big stack. And with what Brainwash did last weekend, I don't get it.

My guess is that "some of these guys " is a pretty large group. That is given 50 (100? more?) "online names" the odds of these happening are not that amazing.

lol, weevil.

But seriously, don't you think that it would make more sense (+EV for you) to ask Matt - a known highly successful big money MTT player- his reasoning instead of just jumping to the conclusion that "he got seriously outplayed."?

I didn't feel I had much to learn. It comes down to a player read.. Matt was right that given the blind size in relation to the stacks, 99 becomes a powerhouse possibly worthy of a push against a raise from the right players. But from watching the limper for several hours, I hadn't seen him make that play yet. A limp in this case almost always indicates a high pp. Matt says the player in question was doing that frequently earlier on, if so, his play is more understandable. It just looked to me as I was watching that he was walking smack into a trap, which he did.

No amount of explaining will tell me why risking your whole stack (15-20BBs) from UTG in a full table with 33 is a good play (in reference to the worst mistake I saw him make).

Yeah, I've considered this of course. I guess what I find most interesting about these players (Jacksup, Brainwash and even guys like Pickled Egg and a couple others) is that they don't play the regular schedule of online tournaments. I almost strictly play MTT's these days, so I'm playing with all the pros nearly every day. There's a lot of these guys that are absolutely awsome (Bax, SamEnole, Gank, etc) and kill the MTTs on a regular basis. However, these guys (and not just the great players I mentioned) haven't performed that well, as far as I know, in the bigger tournaments. It's these players such as Jacksup and Brainwash, who don't play that many online MTTs, that have had the most success in the big ones. Are these guys better than Bax et al.? This is hard for me to imagine. Or have they just happened to run better in the bigger events? I'm not sure, but I was already wondering about this before this week, and after Brainwash's stars final table, and Jacksup's two party FT's...

I suppose MLG falls into this category too, with two wins in the big stars tourny, while not playing regularily. Though I think this is a case where it's safe to write it off as just being lucky.
