I fail to see why it matters.

That's probably why you are option D) losing player, can't relate

I don't see why it matters either. And I would not be a "d".

People who can get out of it what they need. It is that simple.

Yes, and I truely wonder how people live on say 20-25k a year. Not being a dick, but taken back.

I was in the workforce 3 years before I made over 40,000 a year.

IF we include health insurance benefits in salary, then maybe that number is 2.

However there are lost of normal folks who support themselves on less than 40,000 a year.

What do you consider for someone to call themsevles PRO/SEMI-PRO/ETC?

Someone who makes a living at it.

If they can consistently supplement their income then I consider them semi-pro.

Have you never actually went to a live poker college game? Kids at these games are extremely arrogant. Last game I went to some guy there played like a complete donkey and when questioned about it says "dude its a $30 tourney, we play cash games where the buyin is $200, wtf? im up like 2500 online dude". I'm like "yeah man k you rule !111!!one!" So many times in class or on campus ive heard people talking about poker and how good they are. Poker is an awesome game, it confuses some players into thinking they're good. They attribute the winning to being great and the losing to "suck outs and bullsh*t" and they come back for more and more. Very deceiving game.

I read up to here and decided to comment now since I won't read the whole thread and I think you're a jackass for saying that...

I play for a living. I don't see what all the hype is. If I went on ESPN or whatever I would be called a "pro". However who really cares? It's just a term. I always just say I play for a living but whatever. If you make money at it and pay your bills with it who freaking cares what you call yourself? Of course some people have trouble with egos happily I dont as i'll readily admit to everybody I suck at poker.

And this is really the highlight of this thread. I could, by the common opinion of this thread, call myself a professional porn star, for there was a time where I was unemployed and my sole source of income was the $600 I made for two days work in a video that I was in in 1997.

Woohoo. I cant wait to tell my girlfriend's mother!

Titles are to make people feel better about themselves and questioning those titles are for people that feel inferior to those people that have titles.

Sanitation Engineer -> Janitor. Whats in a name? You play poker for money? Great. Doesnt make you a better player than me, the porn star. And it certainly doesnt impress anyone.

My point? Call yourself whatever you want. You are the only one it really matters to anyway.

This is when I like to ask to play HUs for even $100/game and I never get any takers.

I remember a few weeks ago (at a college) I went to a party and poker got brought up and some kid is like my roommate is in his room right now and he'll play you for whatever you got in your wallet. I'm said I would run to the ATM and grab a $1000 and then he mouths off well I could run off to the ATM too. I said sure, and he didn't take. He's like yeah he's up 4500 this summer online. I then later found out it the roommate in the room was a friend of mine and we have played tons of HUs and I would easily play him for whatever he wanted. I think I'm like 20-1 on him record wise.

I also tried playing free bar tournaments and you get the same "pros" there that want to play you for "more than you have in your checking account" but when you start the game at a $1000/game, no takers. I hope someday I actually get one of these bad players to.

I was more so looking at not what people refer to themselves as but when you hear someone ELSE say what they are, what would that make you think of.

Some people are taking this wayyyyyyyyy too seriously and personally.
