Weak Aces ... Are they even worth playing short handed?

I play alot of 6 player max NL. Always the $100 buyin level. (BB is $1).

I have found through my pokertracker database (which only has a sample space of about 1600 hands) that Aces with a 10 or higher kicker are profitable, and any lower kicker weather suited or not, are unprofitable.

I have heard that aces are golden short handed, even weak ones, but I do not believe this is true.

Is it better for me to simply muck my weak aces preflop (6 player max), and maximize my profit potential?

What starting hand adjustments do you make when playing 6 handed compared to 10 handed, if any?

EDIT: open raising a weak A from LP or the blinds (which is what short-handed boils down to) is essentially a steal. just about any hand that calls a raise has you dominated or a good chance to draw out.

EDIT2: i'm not talking about suited aces. those can be good.

The aces advice SH is for tournament play more than cash games. With high blind structures, pushing with an ace will usually be +EV against 1 or 2 players. In a cash game you should be stacked deep enough that this does not apply.

Well first of all your sample size is small. And definitely FAR too small to be looking at individual hands like specific aces (as opposed to overall winrate, etc). That being said, Axo isn't a playable hand really. I mean A5o is just trash. Suited aces are playable in position.

Suited aces are crap heads up. Small aces are crap headsup. It's a classic win small lose big situation, so unless you are playing an ultra agressive bluffer or a super calling station who will call down with third pair, don't bother with anything below ATo.

While suited aces can at times be profitable, it is very dependent on the situation. OP is referring to SH/heads-up, in which their value goes down quickly as the times you flop an ace you are WA/WB and either get no action or too much action.

Respectfully gentlemen, I must disagree. I feel that most of the time A-Trash is worthless. Especially up-front. However, in late position its a definate raising hand. Against the blinds you have a big edge playing A-anything. This is of course contingent upon nobody having entered the pot before you.
